Questions you might be asking yourself now:

  • No, you don’t. Sometimes, it’s even better if you aren’t because you won’t be striving to make your artwork perfect. You’d be surprised how much valuable content you can extract from the most rudimentary image. Putting that aside, the focus here is on the process not the final product. It’s about oexpressing emotions that are stored inside of you with simple shapes, lines, and colors. That’s al! No artistic skill necessary :)

  • No, you don’t! You can use simple markers, crayons, or watercolors. Anything you have lying around the house will do, or you can find inexpensive supplies at the Dollar Store. You can even use the back of the paper shopping bag or printer paper. No need to be fancy. If you have more art materials go for it, but it’s not a requirement.

  • Once you have your art materials in place, you can devote as little as 20 minutes daily for the four days of the creative process to getting real, tangible results. We are all busy, and the idea is to make this process as easy and accessible as possible.

    On the other hand, you might want to batch all the days and do the exercise in one sitting. In this case, you can do it in as little as one hour because you will be in the flow without set-up and context switching.

    It’s entirely up to you how you choose to do it. The most important thing is that you allocate some time for emotional self-care.
